At Rocky Wolf Ranch in Alberta, we offer a wide variety of sled dog programs, outdoor activities and seasonal experiences for visitors of all ages.
Here you can find all programs we currently offer!
Divided into winter and summer programs, there is something for everyone.
Children are welcome to join every program, but may not be able to participate in all activities.
Special children’s and family programs for kids
up to 6 years old are clearly marked.
Your own dogs cannot be brought along.

Winter program
Sled dog workshop
Feel like a real musher
During the sled dog workshop, you have the unique opportunity to independently drive a small sled dog team with 2-4 dogs. Depending on the snow conditions, a sled or a wagon will be used. After a detailed briefing, you can ride one of our ranch's own trails with a guide. Children under 14 years old are always driven by us for safety. Adults can choose to drive a small sled team themselves or be driven — whichever feels best. Total duration approximately 3 hours.

Get to know the dogs personally
know and learn interesting facts
Visiting the dogs is always an experience for young and old. During a briefing lasting approximately half an hour, you'll learn a lot about sled dogs, their breeds, suitability, feeding, training, and especially about the Alaskan Malamutes and the rare Canadian Eskimo dogs. Afterwards, you'll have plenty of time to interact with the dogs. You can pet, cuddle, snuggle, observe, take photos, play, and ask questions. After about an hour and a half, you'll be impressed by the affection and temperament of each individual dog.

Weekend Special
Sled dog workshop, driving sled dogs yourself, campfire
With this weekend special, your dream of independently driving a small dog sled team with 2-4 dogs can come true. After a thorough briefing and a chance to get to know the dogs, we'll take a break around the campfire. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Afterwards, you can ride one of our ranch's own trails with your own team, accompanied by a guide. Children under 14 years old are always driven by us for safety. Adults can choose to drive a small sled team themselves or be driven — whichever feels best.The total duration is approximately 3.5 hours.

Alaskan trapper feeling
Meet dogs, snowshoes
try hiking with the sled dogs
What do you associate with the term "trapper"? Snow, solitude, snowshoes, long hikes through rough terrain to set and check snares and traps for fur hunting?
With us you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of trappers as part of the "Alaskan Trapper Feeling" program.
After an introduction, we'll test snowshoes together and get familiar with them. Then we'll venture into the forest with the dogs—and who knows?...maybe we'll see a furry animal?

Little mushers make a big impact
Sled dog experience for the little ones
(suitable for kids)
Sled dogs live for what they do. Even in old age, they remain highly motivated. For the littlest mushers among you, we've come up with a very special program that will delight dogs and children alike.
Experienced, older dogs will pull your child on a children's wooden sled or bobsleigh (please bring your own if possible ! Rental sleds are limited ) for a roughly half-hour tour through the Canadian countryside. A parent will lead the dog on a leash using a harness. Together, we'll explore the wonderful natural surroundings. Dog cuddles included.

Summer program
Adventure afternoon
Dog cuddling, hiking with the dogs, archery, barbecue at the campfire
Sled dogs, especially Alaskan Malamutes, were used not only to pull sleds, but also as pack animals in the summer. For example, for hunting or gathering firewood. During this adventure afternoon, we'll take a closer look at the use of these dogs during the summer months. We'll explore the Canadian wilderness together, practice archery, and grill our favorite food from the supermarket.

Hiking with the sled dogs
Get to know the dogs and embark on a journey of discovery
Visiting the dogs is always an experience for young and old. During a briefing lasting approximately half an hour, you'll learn a lot about sled dogs, their breeds, suitability, feeding, training, and especially about the Alaskan Malamutes and the rare Canadian Eskimo Dogs. Afterwards, you'll have time to interact with the dogs. Pet them, cuddle them, snuggle them, and take photos. Afterwards, everyone will be assigned a dog, individually or in pairs, with whom we'll explore the Canadian landscape for approximately one hour. Experience the strength and motivation of these dogs. After about 2-2.5 hours, you'll be impressed by the affection and motivation of each individual dog.
